NNA-N E W S I N B R I E FWaldorf and state teachers meet for joint training Dornach, 26 November (NNA) – Six hundred teachers from state and Waldorf schools met at the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland, on 14/15 November for a first joint advanced training conference organised by Liestal Education College and the HFAP Dornach (College for Anthroposophical Education). At the conclusion of this education policy milestone, it was commonly agreed that the meetings should continue. As a result of such conferences, one teacher said, it was possible to feel like a melon again – juicy and sweet, creative and full of fruitful seeds – and not just like a squeezed lemon which had to produce more and more with fewer and fewer resources. Swiss social security office funds after-school care at Solothurn Rudolf Steiner School Solothurn, 26 November (NNA) – The Swiss authorities have promised support for an after-school care project set up by the Solothurn Rudolf Steiner School for children of working parents. The so-called SCHUKI project has been set up in close cooperation with parents, teachers and the Initiative for Practice Research (ipf). As a result of an application by the Steiner school, the Swiss Federal Office for Social Security (BSV) is providing SCHUKI with start up finance for the project. Having been successfully introduced for children at the Steiner school since the start of the school year, children from state schools will also be able to attend in a second phase of the project. SCHUKI is open to all children aged between 6 and 16. The Steiner education movement in Switzerland are currently campaigning for state funding of Steiner schools. www.schuki.ch ENDS Item: N031126-01EN Date: 26 November 2003 Copyright 2003 News Network Anthroposophy Limited.
