British Anthroposophical Society appoints new general secretaries
London (NNA) - The Anthroposophical Society in Great Britain (AS in GB) has appointed two new general secretaries. Philip Martyn and Anne Druitt will share the task of running the day-to-day business of the society as its public face. The appointments were made at the Anthroposophical Society’s annual general meeting last month. Philip Martin, as international general secretary, will take on the role of representing Britain abroad, including at the worldwide General Anthroposophical Society based in Dornach, Switzerland, while Anne Druitt, as national general secretary will carry the work in Britain. The previous general secretary, Nick Thomas, retires after 21 years of dedicated work. An engineer by training, he intends to concentrate on his scientific and mathematical interests. This is not the first time that the post of general secretary has been split in this way. The Anthroposophical Society in America pursued a similar strategy when it appointed Joan Almon as international general secretary with responsibilities for international work, in particular, relations with the Goetheanum, and MariJo Rogers as national general secretary with responsibilities for domestic work, in particular, work with members, groups and branches. Philip Martyn is a banker in London and Anne Druitt lives in Sussex. END/nna/cva Item: 060606-01EN Date: 6 June 2006 Copyright 2006 News Network Anthroposophy Limited. All rights reserved.
