Pioneer of biodynamic agriculture Friedrich Sattler celebrates eightieth birthday
HEIDENHEIM (NNA). One of the pioneers of biodynamic agriculture, Friedrich Sattler, celebrated his eightieth birthday on 15 December in Heidenheim, Germany. Throughout his long career, Sattler was awarded both the German federal cross of merit and the state medal of Baden-Württemberg for his services to biodynamic agriculture and the training of farmers. Among his other tasks, Friedrich Sattler was – and still is – actively involved for the last 40 years in the executive of the German Demeter Association as well as with Demeter International. He has travelled widely to eastern Europe, Isræl and Spain, giving lectures and supporting his fellow farmers in converting to biodynamic agriculture as well as carrying out inspections for the Demeter Association. His advice is much sought at home and abroad. STUTTGART (NNA). Journalists and others working in the media in the anthroposophical movement are mourning the loss of Klaus Schickert. Schickert, who died on 13 December aged 68, worked for many years as an editor on the education journal “Erziehungskunst”. He was also among the founders and organisers of the working group of anthroposophical editors, journalists and public relations workers from the German-speaking countries who meet regularly twice a year in Frankfurt. One of the aims of the group is to discuss how anthroposophical ideas can be disseminated more widely. His quiet, steadying influence helped to ensure that the sometimes lively debates of the group were kept on track. Before starting at “Erziehungskunst”, Klaus Schickert was a teacher at the Kiel Waldorf school.
