Werner Barfod appointed honorary professor at Alanus University
ALFTER (NNA) - Werner Barfod, the well-known artistic director of the Nederlands Eurythmie Ensemble for many years, has been awarded an honorary professorship at the Alanus University in Germany, starting in the new year. “We look forward to benefiting from his great experience of artistic work, teaching and research,” Prof. Stefan Hasler, head of the eurythmy department, emphasised. Barfod has headed the Section for Eurythmy, Speech and Music of the School of Spiritual Science at the Goetheanum since 2000. Werner Barford, born in 1936, studied eurythmy in Dornach, becoming director of the Academie voor Eurythmie (today Hogeschool Helicon) in The Hague from 1970 to 1999. For twenty-five years, from 1972 to 1997, he was also artistic director and manager of the Nederlands Eurythmie Ensemble, touring in Holland and Europe with many different programmes. He can thus look back on 30 years of training and looking after eurythmy students. Eurythmy studies at Alanus University will undergo considerable changes in 2007 when they convert to Bachelor and Master degrees as part of the so-called Bologna process which aims to harmonise the European higher education landscape. Eurythmy students at Alanus University will in future acquire the internationally recognised academic degree of Bachelor of Arts (B. A.) after four years of study. They can then progress to a Masters degree specialising in stage eurythmy, eurythmy teaching, eurythmy therapy or eurythmy for adult education. The first students will start the new courses in the autumn of 2007. Link: www.alanus.edu END/NNA/ung/cva Item: 061229-01EN Date: 29 December 2006 Copyright 2006 News Network Anthroposophy Limited.
