New website to help support the terminally ill

BASEL (NNA) – Practical help in caring for terminally ill patients is provided by a website which recently went live in Switzerland (www.sterben.ch).

It offers insights into the form of terminal care as practiced on the basis of anthroposophy.

Many practical experiences and references can be found on the website – for example with regard to dealing with pain, palliative care as well as supporting therapies and rituals. There are many different links, addresses and suggestions where further help can be found.

The website also aims to make a contribution to sensitising public opinion to this subject and discussing deeper aspects of life, particularly with regard to extending the debate about assisted dying or suicide by a spiritual dimension.

The subject of “death and dying” is looked at from an anthroposophical perspective, in which human life does not end with death but continues in another form. This view has consequences for the care of sick and dying people and offers a perspective which points beyond death.
