Aspects of human development – Marcus Schneider on finding the balance

ESSEN (NNA). “Living the opposites, finding the centre – the struggle for balance”. That was the subject of a lecture delivered by Marcus Schneider recently at a meeting of the German Anthroposophical Society in Essen. Schneider, director of the Höhere Fachschule Anthroposophische Pädagogik and chairman of the Paracelsus Branch of the Anthroposophical Society in Dornach is one of the most high-profile speakers on music, art, culture and karma in the German-speaking anthroposophical movement.

In a lively and engaging manner, Schneider described the polarities in each person’s individual life, but also in his or her social context, egoism and altruism and the reality of thoughts.

Earlier in the year, Schneider had spoken at the same venue about “Conscious and unconscious threshold experiences”, using the examples of the biographies of Goethe, Wagner and Mozart. Schneider’s talk was about the relationship between ego-experience and meditative path. To occupy oneself with the elemental world, as Rudolf Steiner describes it in his “Knowledge of the Higher Worlds” helps to form an organ to become aware of what is important and what lives through processes.

Entrance to the spiritual world proves a challenge to the human being, experiences leave impressions in the etheric world with which one can then live.
