Listen with Steiner: Rudolf Steiner available in English as audio download

LONDON (NNA) – A Rudolf Steiner lecture can now for the first time be heard in English in professional quality as an audio download. In an onward development from the audio book, which potentially opens up a whole new market, Rudolf Steiner Press (RSP) is offering the first lecture of its new audio release of “Rosicrucian Wisdom” online as a free download.

“In this instance we made the first lecture available in this form to promote the book,” Sevak Gulbekian, RSP editor-in-chief and manager told NNA. “But in the longer term we are thinking about making Steiner’s works available more generally for purchase online in download form.”

That means that in future books and lectures by the founder of anthroposophy could be for sale through download stores such as iTunes, HMV or Virgin. There are currently technical reasons why this cannot be done, but Gulbekian says that RSP is working to overcome those and is planning further recordings of lectures.

This is not the first instance of English versions of Steiner’s works being available in audio format online. The Rudolf Steiner Audio website provides a range of lectures and books in this form. But it is the first time that a reading of a work of Rudolf Steiner’s is available in English in professional quality.

Steiner audio books have been available for sale in German for the last five years in a collaboration between steiner-hoeren.de and the publisher of his works, Rudolf Steiner Verlag. But steiner-hoeren.de is also working on an online version of “The Philosophy of Freedom”. So far the first five chapters are available for download.

Weleda public relations team wins prize for clarity of language

SCHWÄBISCH GMÜND/KASSEL (NNA) – Weleda AG in Germany has won praise for the clarity of its communication. At the award ceremony for the Cultural Award for the German Language, the company’s public relations team was praised for its clear and comprehensible use of language which was intended to encourage buyers to make their own judgement about the products.

The annual prize is awarded by the Eberhard Schöck Foundation in Baden-Baden and the German Language Association in Dortmund. There are various categories, including the Institution Prize for the use of clear language awarded to Weleda and the Jacob Grimm Prize, carrying prize money of 35,000 euros, which is awarded to individuals for their creative development of German. The latter was won this year by the respected author and cultural commentator from the former East Germany, Günter de Bruyn.

Weleda has deliberately employed journalists to develop and maintain its particular culture of language use. The corporate communications department currently consists of ten members of staff.
